Seeking out Green Gem Jewelry

While one usually thinks of minerals as something that is taken in a vitamin, there are beautiful deposits that are found in the earth that are made into jewelry. One example of this is the emerald that is found in green gem jewelry. There are some individuals that have a particular taste for the color green and will seek out jewelry in precious stones that fill that hunger. There are many different types of stones that live up to the description of green gem jewelry, some of which are birthstones or more traditional stones, while others might have a hint of green mixed with other colors and are not as precious.

Type of Stones

Green gem jewelry is often sought because it is a birthstone. The garnet is one example of this, and is a stone that comes in a deep shade of green. It is darker than a green sapphire, which is normally categorized in the blue category, but sometimes can be found in green. There is also the jade birthstone which almost looks cloudy in comparison to the garnet. Another cloudy birthstone that is green is the chrysoprase, which is of a lighter and almost blueish color of green with a cloudy has running through it. There is also the peridot, which is a light, almost yellowish green color and is also a birthstone.

A more unique stone in green gem jewelry is the azurite-malachite. This stone almost looks like a topographic map of the ocean. It has a mix of the deep blue of the ocean depths and the green of the summer grass all mixed together in the stone. There is also the opal, which can come in a variety of different colors but is often a mix of greens, purples and blues in the stone. The malachite is also beautiful, which often looks like a blue-green pond where the rain is gently falling into the depths, forming circles. These circles are a mix of light and dark green and weave together in the stone. The ammolite is also a mix of color and light, with light and dark greens mixed with yellows and reds throughout the stone.

Finally, there are some exotic stones in the green gem jewelry set, such as the beryl, which is a very light green, so light that it almost looks clear. There is also the teal zircon, which is very much the color teal, looking like a clear pool of Caribbean water. There is also the green zircon, which is a light green color but is also clear and brilliant.
