Diamond Ring Care Tips

Diamond rings are beautiful things to have and if you treat them properly they can last for a lifetime (and beyond!). It is important to look after them, so read on for our advice on keeping a diamond ring in good condition. One thing you should always make sure to do with diamond rings is to store them carefully. Diamond is a hard substance and so doesnt scratch easily, but if they are stored with other jewelry then the band might be damaged, so reduce the risk and keep them separate.

It might sound like common sense, but you would be surprised how many diamond rings become damaged or even lost when worn in certain situations. This means you should be careful about when and where you wear your diamond ring and always keep an eye on it when you have it on you. Wearing it while doing the washing up, for instance, probably isnt the best idea as it could so easily be lost, so take it off if you think there is any danger.

Occasionally, you might find that your diamond ring becomes a little bit dirty or grimy. If this is the case, you should fill a bowl with warm water and mix in a little mild detergent. Then use a soft brush (no bristles or anything that could be abrasive) to carefully clean your ring. Once it is clean, rinse it off in clear water and pat it dry with a lint-free cloth. Alternatively, leave it to dry naturally in the air to keep it fresh and sparkling.

As diamonds are a very hard substance, they dont damage easily but you should still check your ring regularly for any abrasions or other damage. For instance, the setting of the diamond might become damaged, which could lead to the diamond falling out and getting lost so it is definitely worth keeping an eye on this. You should also watch out for abrasions on the metal band or cracks in the diamond as these will need to be sorted out quickly if they occur.

Finally, if you do notice anything wrong with your diamond ring then it is definitely worth getting it checked out to be on the safe side. Your jeweler will be able to make sure everything is okay and repair most damage that could occur to a diamond ring. For example, they can make sure the setting of the diamond stays secure so the ring will stay together, as well as buffing the metal band to keep it as shiny and sparkling as the diamond itself.
